Volleyball Recap: Gardner-Edgerton Takes a Loss

Gardner-Edgerton suffered their biggest loss since October 17, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to the Shawnee Mission Northwest Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on Saturday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-23, 25-16.

Hayden Meats paced Gardner-Edgerton's offense, picking up ten kills. Meats got some help from Tori Thompson and her 11 assists. Thompson also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Emma Arel, each putting up two.

Gardner-Edgerton's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 17-7. As for Shawnee Mission Northwest, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Gardner-Edgerton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Olathe West on the 2nd. As for Shawnee Mission Northwest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Olathe North on the 2nd.
