The Dexter Tigers will square off against the Mattanawcook Lynx at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
Bucksport hit Dexter with a four-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers came up short against the Golden Bucks, falling 8-2. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Golden Bucks recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Dexter saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Desiree Adams, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Mattanawcook put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Lee Academy 20-2. Fans of the Lynx have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Julianna Cloukey made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Cloukey was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Cyr, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Megan House was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Mattanawcook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Mattanawcook's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Dexter, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Dexter suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Mattanawcook in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
