Softball Game Preview: Palisades Pirates vs. Salisbury Township Falcons

The Palisades Pirates will take on the Salisbury Township Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Palisades will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

On Wednesday, it was close, but Palisades sidestepped Notre Dame-Green Pond for a 7-6 victory.

Karlye Teman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Catie Russo was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Bonelli, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Southern Lehigh hit Salisbury Township with a five-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons lost 13-3 to the Spartans. The Falcons have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Sophia Gunning was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. Sydney Foulke was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Palisades pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Salisbury Township, they now have a losing record of 9-10-1.

Palisades took their win against Salisbury Township in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
