Asbury Park had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 42-29 win over the Point Pleasant Beach Garnet Gulls. The Bishops pushed the score to 42-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Garnet Gulls cut but never quite recovered from.

Despite the loss, Point Pleasant Beach still got an impressive performance from Matthew Rossi, who threw for 247 yards and one touchdown, and also punched in a pair of scores on the ground. A healthy portion of Rossi's aerial production (120 yards to be exact) went to Elijah Ives.

Point Pleasant Beach's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
