Basketball Game Preview: Pass Christian Pirates vs. Sumrall Bobcats

The Pass Christian Pirates will challenge the Sumrall Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pass Christian is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Pass Christian came up short against Greene County on Friday, falling 63-41. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Wildcats are ranked 111th).

Meanwhile, Sumrall hadn't done well against Purvis recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Sumrall took down Purvis 54-38. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bobcats as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Pass Christian better keep an eye on Ella Robertson. She was instrumental in Sumrall's win, going 10 for 22 en route to 24 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Robertson has scored at least a third of Sumrall's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kynlee Speed, who posted seven points along with five assists and four steals.

Pass Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Sumrall, the win got them back to even at 13-13.
