Basketball Game Preview: Garner-Hayfield/Ventura Cardinals vs. North Iowa Bison

Garner-Hayfield/Ventura is 9-1 against North Iowa since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura Cardinals will challenge the North Iowa Bison at 6:15 p.m.

Last Saturday, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura lost to Algona at home by a 59-41 margin. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 77th).

Meanwhile, North Iowa had to endure a ten-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Eagle Grove 70-34. The Bison's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

North Iowa's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-10. As for Garner-Hayfield/Ventura, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Garner-Hayfield/Ventura was able to grind out a solid victory over North Iowa when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 58-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Garner-Hayfield/Ventura since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
