Recap: Boone Braves vs. Hilliard Darby Panthers
On Friday, Boone earned a 50-43 victory over Hilliard Darby. Given Boone's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 49th in Florida, while Hilliard Darby is ranked 364th in Ohio), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mckenna Murphy continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with four steals. The matchup was her 14th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Danika Ballard, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Boone and bumps their season record up to 11-3. As for Hilliard Darby, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-6 record last season and are now at 3-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boone will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Downey Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. As for Hilliard Darby, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Olentangy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Olentangy will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
