Volleyball Recap: Kathryn Driend's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Methuen over Chelmsford

Methuen came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Chelmsford Lions. The Rangers have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-15, 25-15.

Methuen lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kathryn Driend, who had three digs and three aces. She has been hot for a while, having also posted 14 or more assists the last 15 times she's played. Lindsey Crowell was another key player, getting seven kills, seven digs, and one block.

Brianna Cairns was a one-woman wrecking crew For Chelmsford. as she had 14 digs and five aces.

Methuen's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Chelmsford, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0.

Methuen has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Central Catholic on the 6th. As for Chelmsford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Haverhill on the 6th.
