Recap: First Flight Nighthawks vs. Pasquotank County Panthers
Make it eight blowout wins for the First Flight Nighthawks this season. They blew past Pasquotank County 51-25. With First Flight ahead 28-4 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Leading First Flight to victory were Hailey Stanley and Maddy Beatson. Stanley scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Beatson scored 17 points along with five assists and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stanley has scored all season. Aubrey Phanton was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Pasquotank County still got an impressive performance from Anylah Bowe, who dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 blocks. Bowe is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Pasquotank County struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-3) when they can't control their own glass like that.
The win makes it two in a row for First Flight and bumps their season record up to 9-2. As for Pasquotank County, their defeat was their 13th straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. First Flight will take on Northeastern at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Northeastern is ranked 134th, while First Flight is ranked 140th). As for Pasquotank County, they will be playing at home against Camden County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Camden County has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 13.
