Basketball Game Preview: Caldwell Redskins vs. Monroe Central Seminoles

Caldwell is 1-9 against Monroe Central since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Caldwell Redskins will take on the Monroe Central Seminoles at 7:00 p.m.

Caldwell is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game last Monday. They received a blow as they fell 50-33 to Monroe Central. While losing is never fun, the Redskins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 580th, while the Seminoles are ranked 172nd).

Despite the defeat, Caldwell saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Breighlee Moracco went 6 of 9 on her way to 18 points and four steals. Moracco is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Caldwell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Monroe Central pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Caldwell, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
