Baseball Recap: Foard Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Foard had lost six games straight , but after bumping their record up to 5-15 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Bunker Hill Bears by a score of 11-8. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Bears back in March, they had to take a 4-2 loss.

The team relied heavily on Landon Setzer, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Carson Duckworth was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Foard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.

As for Bunker Hill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

On Bunker Hill's side, Kamden Bortz and Braydon Marlowe did some serious damage despite the final result: Bortz went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Marlowe went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Bortz is becoming a predictor of the Bears' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 4-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Austin Parker, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Foard didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-1 loss against North Iredell on the 29th. Bunker Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
