Baseball Game Preview: Utica Chieftains vs. Utica Eisenhower Eagles

Utica is on a seven-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Utica Eisenhower a five-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Utica Chieftains will be playing at home against the Utica Eisenhower Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Utica will be strutting in after a win while Utica Eisenhower will be coming in after a defeat.

On Saturday, Utica made easy work of Lakeview and carried off an 11-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Chieftains in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won three in a row.

Alex Gorgievski and Michael Hoppe did most of the damage at the plate: Gorgievski went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Hoppe fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Costa Koupparis was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Utica kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Utica Eisenhower's offense. They fell just short of L'Anse Creuse North by a score of 2-0 on Saturday.

Utica's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Utica Eisenhower, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
