Basketball Recap: Olivet Takes a Loss

Olivet was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 41-34 to the Springport Spartans. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2021.

Springport's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gibson Overweg, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 10 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Baum, who posted seven points and five boards.

Olivet's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Springport, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-4.

Olivet will be playing in front of their home fans against Fowlerville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Springport, they will venture away from home to face off against Vandercook Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Springport is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.9 points per game this season.
