Baseball Recap: La Jolla Comes Up Short

After flying high against Mission Bay last Thursday, La Jolla came back down to earth. The Vikings fell just short of the Buccaneers by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Buccaneers earlier this season, when they won 10-3.

Abel Delgadillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, La Jolla saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harper Lane, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

La Jolla now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Mission Bay, their win bumped their record up to 14-3.

While La Jolla had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
