Baseball Recap: Greenhills Beats Whitmore Lake for Their Fifth Straight Win

Greenhills extended their winning streak to five on Monday, bumping their season record up to 31-6 in the process. They skirted past the Whitmore Lake Trojans 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-5 back in April.

Talen Pilz was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.

As for Whitmore Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. Having soared to a lofty 24 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Whitmore Lake's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Abla, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Abla is becoming a predictor of the Trojans' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 4-11 when he doesn't). Emerson Stefanovski was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Looking ahead, Greenhills will venture away from home to challenge Detroit Country Day at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Whitmore Lake, they will host Melvindale at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
