Basketball Recap: Lakeland Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Mckenzie Carlson and Cara Schackow

Lakeland lost against Central Noble back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Lakeland Lakers lost to the Central Noble Cougars on the road by a 50-31 margin. While losing is never fun, the Lakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Cougars are ranked 134th).

Lakeland's loss came despite strong showings from Cara Schackow and Mckenzie Carlson. Schackow posted six points and four blocks, while Carlson had six points and six rebounds. Schackow has been hot recently, having posted three or more blocks the last four times she's played. Chloe Yoder also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Lakeland has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Central Noble, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-6.

Lakeland has already played their next game (against Fremont), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Central Noble will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Fairfield at 7:30 p.m.
