Baseball Recap: Five Straight Road Victories for Ashley

Ashley never let their opponents score on Friday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over the Topsail Pirates. The victory continues a trend for the Screaming Eagle in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won four in a row.

Ashley got a great performance from Jackson Lee as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tanner Berry, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

Ashley pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Topsail, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ashley will take on West Brunswick at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Screaming Eagle are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Topsail, they will face off against New Hanover at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight.
