Softball Game Preview: Sun Valley Spartans vs. Porter Ridge Pirates

Sun Valley hasn't had much luck against Porter Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Sun Valley will square off against Porter Ridge at 4:30 p.m. Sun Valley has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Sun Valley is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They came up short against Marvin Ridge, falling 14-4.

Gracyn Hawk (2026) was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Moriah Garcia (2026) also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Porter Ridge made easy work of Palisades on Friday and carried off a 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

Brooklyn Green made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Green was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Emma Daniels was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Mylen Cadiang was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Porter Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Sun Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Porter Ridge, their record now sits at 6-7.

Sun Valley suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Porter Ridge when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Sun Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
