Volleyball Recap: Abilene Cowboys vs. Hays Indians
Abilene lost against Hays back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cowboys took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
Abilene was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Hays work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-18, 27-25.
Makenna Stover paced Abilene's offense, picking up four kills. Stover got some help from Rylee Miller and her ten assists. Stover was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Hays' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sylvia Johnson, who had six digs and two aces. Those six digs gave Johnson a new career-high.
Abilene's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Hays, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
Coming up, Abilene will face off against Clay Center at 9:00 a.m. on the 11th. Hays has already played their next matchup (against Sabetha), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
