Basketball Recap: Sumner Beats Emerald Ridge for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Emerald Ridge typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Sumner proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 60-50 victory over the Emerald Ridge Jaguars. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 69-41 back in December of 2024.

Leading Sumner to victory were Kawehi Borden and Olivia M Collins. Borden dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds, while M Collins dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 boards. That's the most rebounds M Collins has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Parker Gould, who posted six points.

The win was the fourth in a row for Sumner, bringing their record for this year to 17-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Emerald Ridge, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-4.

When Sumner and Emerald Ridge next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Sumner will try to stop Bonney Lake's three-game winning streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sumner is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.9 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Emerald Ridge will challenge Olympia and their six-game winning streak at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
