Basketball Game Preview: Houston Mustangs vs. Bartlett Panthers

Houston hasn't had much luck against Bartlett recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Houston Mustangs will square off against the Bartlett Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Houston is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season.

Houston is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 63-55 victory over Overton. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Houston's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caidyn Sanders, who almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Sanders a new career-high in rebounds. Laila Mcnamee was another key player, shooting 75% from the field en route to 14 points and five boards.

Houston was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They are 21-4 when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, Bartlett came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 54-50 W against the Spartans. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Spartans are ranked 98th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bartlett pushed their record up to 20-11 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points over those games. As for Houston, their record is now 23-10.

Houston came up short against Bartlett in their previous meeting back in January, falling 60-47. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bartlett's Faye Williams, who went 10-for-16 to rack up 21 points and six rebounds.
