Softball Recap: Harlingen South Extends Winning Streak to Four

Harlingen South had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They never let the Porter Cowboys get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. Give the Hawks' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

The result came thanks to Lexi Sandoval's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Georgia Chapa was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

Harlingen South's victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Porter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Harlingen South will challenge rival Donna North at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Porter is set to take on their familiar foe Edcouch-Elsa at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
