Softball Recap: Monona Grove Takes a Loss

Monona Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Milton Red Hawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Silver Eagles of the 5-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Giovanina DaWalt made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cathryn Zegadlo, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Monona Grove's record now sits at 5-8. As for Milton, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Monona Grove will square off against rival DeForest at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Milton is set to challenge their familiar foe Oregon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
