After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Badin, Carroll was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Valley View Spartans 3-2. The Patriots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans, too.

Carroll wouldn't go down easily and took Valley View into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 14-25, 26-28, 27-25, 15-9.

Carroll was led to victory by Claire Clemens and Hayley Clary. Clemens had 19 digs and two aces, while Clary had 12 digs. Clemens has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last four times she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: Carroll was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. They are 6-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

The win got Carroll back to even at 7-7. As for Valley View, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
