Basketball Recap: Moshannon Valley Snaps 13-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Moshannon Valley won against Southern Huntingdon County last Monday with 55 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. The Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels snuck past the Curwensville Golden Tide with a 55-50 victory. For the Black Knights/Damsels, this counts as revenge for the 57-40 win the Golden Tide walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.

Curwensville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Davis Fleming, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Fleming is now averaging an impressive 9 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Chandler English, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Moshannon Valley's victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for Curwensville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Moshannon Valley and Williamsburg will compete for holiday cheer at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Curwensville, they are taking a road trip to take on Glendale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Glendale will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Curwensville surely won't give up without a fight.
