Volleyball Recap: Excelsior Classical Academy Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Excelsior Classical Academy was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Triangle Math & Science last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Flying Lions lost 3-0 to the Vance Charter Knights on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Flying Lions in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost seven in a row.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-16, 25-11.

Excelsior Classical Academy's offense was headlined by Juniper Wells and Stephanie Llanas Tavera, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Alejandra Orozco and her seven assists. Llanas Tavera was also a major player on defense: she and she shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with four each.

Excelsior Classical Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Vance Charter, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Excelsior Classical Academy has already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Northern Durham on the 3rd. As for Vance Charter, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Henderson Collegiate at 6:45 p.m.
