Softball Game Preview: Prout Crusaders vs. Cumberland Clippers

The Prout Crusaders will take on the Cumberland Clippers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Prout's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Cumberland has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road.

Prout is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Coventry, who was ranked ninth at the time (Prout was ranked 14th). The Crusaders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Oakers on Wednesday.

Sara Slitt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mia Boyajian, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Cumberland came up short against St. Raphael Academy on Tuesday, falling 17-3.

Prout's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Cumberland, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.

Prout got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Cumberland by a conclusive 15-9 score. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Clippers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
