Volleyball Recap: Holcomb Takes a Loss

If Holcomb was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Hayti on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hornets lost 3-0 to the Gideon Bulldogs on Thursday. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Holcomb was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-16, 25-17.

Among those leading the charge was Jalynn Ford, who had 15 digs and three assists. Those 15 digs gave her a new career-high.

Holcomb's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Gideon, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Holcomb will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Kennett at 6:00 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Gideon, they will be taking part in a tournament against Doniphan at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
