Softball Recap: John Jay Comes Up Short

Wednesday just wasn't the day for John Jay's offense. They fell just short of the Somers Tuskers by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Indians' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Maria DeGaetano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, John Jay saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Foote, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

John Jay's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Somers, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, John Jay will challenge Port Richmond at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Somers, they will face off against Brewster at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
