Geneva came tearing into Monday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over the First Academy Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Eagles back in February, they had to take a 11-1 loss.

Jeremiah Kavanah made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Kavanah wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kale Blanchette, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another was Wyatt Strokes, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Geneva's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for First Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-1 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Geneva will square off against Lake Mary Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Mary Prep has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.83 runs per game on average), something Geneva will no doubt try to take advantage of.
