Corona del Sol and Red Mountain are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2020, but likely not for long. The Corona del Sol Aztecs will take on the Red Mountain Mountain Lions in a tournament on Saturday. Red Mountain took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Corona del Sol, who comes in off a win.

Corona del Sol was handed a 16-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Chaparral, sneaking past 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Aztecs have posted against the Firebirds since March 17, 2016.

Miquela Tammaro was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Jami Sheehan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Red Mountain came up short against Queen Creek on Thursday, falling 12-4.

Corona del Sol now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Red Mountain, they now have a losing record of 0-1-1.

Corona del Sol skirted past Red Mountain 3-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Does Corona del Sol have another victory up their sleeve, or will Red Mountain turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
