Basketball Recap: Hamilton Starts Season with Win Against Larchmont Charter

Hamilton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They breezed past the Larchmont Charter Timberwolves to the tune of 91-20.

Hamilton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Matthew Thierry led the charge by dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. Thierry is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Michael Gooden, who went 7-for-11 en route to 16 points and eight boards.

Hamilton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hamilton will venture away from home to square off against Santee at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Larchmont Charter, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Stella High Charter Academy at 4:30 p.m. on December 3.
