Basketball Recap: Agoura Comes Up Short

Agoura was the 67-66 winner over Valencia when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Chargers fell 63-53 to the Vikings on Saturday.

When it comes to explaining why Agoura lost, don't look at Noam Franco. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-11 from beyond the arc to rack up 20 points. With that strong performance, Franco is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Skope, who posted eight points.

Valencia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Steven Irons led the charge by dropping a double-double with 21 points and 14 boards. Irons is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Romel McCoy, who put up 13 points and seven steals.

Agoura's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Valencia, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Agoura will square off against Bishop Diego at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. As for Valencia, they will take on Pilibos in a tournament on Monday.
