Preview: Chaparral Cowboys vs. Western Warriors
The Chaparral Cowboys will be playing at home against the Western Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Chaparral focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Wednesday.
Chaparral suffered their biggest defeat since November 30, 2023 last Wednesday. They were outmatched by Legacy on the road and fell 63-34. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Chaparral has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Chaparral had strong showings from Qualib Ghallab, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds, and Elijah Bard, who scored six points along with seven rebounds. Ghallab is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Western scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They secured a 73-69 W over Del Sol. The win was some much needed relief for Western as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Chaparral has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Western, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11.
Chaparral came out on top in a nail-biter against Western in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, sneaking past 63-61. Will Chaparral repeat their success, or does Western have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
