Baseball Recap: Greenfield/Northwestern Comes Up Short

Greenfield/Northwestern had lost six straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 9-17 to make it seven. They fell 8-3 to the Camp Point Central Panthers. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Greenfield/Northwestern saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Ross, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Camp Point Central, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On Camp Point Central's side, they got a massive performance out of Luke Huston, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Huston a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jace Howe, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Greenfield/Northwestern will take on Staunton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Camp Point Central, they will square off against Barry Western at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.22 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
