Preview: Ray Bearcats vs. Globe Tigers
Ray has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Globe Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Globe took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Ray, who comes in off a win.
Ray posted their biggest win since December 19, 2023 on Friday. They put the hurt on Superior with a sharp 42-20 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Ray has posted against Superior since January 24, 2020.
Ray found their leader in underclassman Makayla Barajas, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barajas has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Malena Goad, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Globe's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 80-26 defeat at the hands of Coolidge. While losing is never fun, Globe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while Coolidge is ranked 83rd).
Ray's win bumped their record up to 8-17. As for Globe, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Ray strolled past Globe when the teams last played back in January of 2018 by a score of 70-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ray since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
