Basketball Recap: Newport Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Newport got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They came out on top against the North Marion Huskies by a score of 49-42 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Cubs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Newport is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for North Marion, they moved to 11-4 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Newport will be playing at home against Cascade at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cascade knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Newport likes a good challenge. As for North Marion, they will venture away from home to square off against Philomath at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
