Soccer Game Preview: Brandon vs. Germantown

The Brandon Bulldogs will square off against the Germantown Mavericks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brandon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 5.3 goals per game this season.

Brandon is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Oak Grove, who was ranked sixth at the time (Brandon was ranked first). Brandon never let Oak Grove onto the board and left with a 4-0 win on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shutout in their previous match.

They hit Oak Grove with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Olivia Wilkins, Avery Rogers, MK Gunter, and Sydney Garner.

Meanwhile, after soaring to six goals the game before, Germantown was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tupelo.

Germantown has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5-2 record this season. As for Brandon, their victory bumped their record up to 18-1-2.

Brandon beat Germantown by a goal when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 1-0. Does Brandon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Germantown turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
