Football Game Preview: Ellington Knights vs. Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton Patriots

The Ellington Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Ellington's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

On Friday, Ellington strolled past Stafford/Somers/East Windsor with points to spare, taking the game 36-21.

Ellington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brett Powell led the charge by rushing for 152 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Eli Bahler also helped with two TDs in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Ellington was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 314 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton ended up a good deal behind CREC [Computer Science and Engineering/Academy] on Friday and lost 34-16. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ellington pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.0 points on average over those games. As for Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Ellington took their win against Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton when the teams last played back in November of 2016 by a conclusive 28-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
