Football Recap: Roxana Piles Up the Points Against Marquette Catholic

Roxana won the last time they faced Marquette Catholic and things went their way on Friday too. The Shells blew past the Explorers, posting a 41-6 win. The Shells might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 27 points or more this season.

Roxana didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Logan Cox.

Marquette Catholic's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jack Rea, who rushed for 66 yards and one score, and Jhordyn Croft, who rushed for 111 yards.

The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 points in those games. As for Marquette Catholic, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.

Roxana and Marquette Catholic are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Shells will challenge Frankfort at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Roxana will be up against the Redbirds' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.56 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Marquette Catholic, they will square off against Carterville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Lions' defense has only allowed 10.8 points per game this season, so the Explorers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
