Baseball Recap: Nucla Comes Up Short at Home Against Monticello

Nucla unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 11-1 to the Monticello Buckaroo on Thursday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buckaroo apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Nucla saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brycen Rummel, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

The victory was the third in a row for Monticello, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Nucla will welcome Rangely at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Monticello, they will venture away from home to take on Grand County at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
