Softball Recap: MacDonald Gets the Win

MacDonald proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by six) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Palo Alto Vikings, sneaking past 5-4.

Ileyah Sanchez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Sanchez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyleena Stone, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

MacDonald's record now sits at 3-4. As for Palo Alto, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. MacDonald will welcome Monta Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Matadors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.5 runs per game on average), something the Condor will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Palo Alto, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Castilleja at 4:00 p.m. on the 16th. The Gators have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.5 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of.
