Basketball Recap: Littleton Falls Despite Big Games from Emma Bird and Samantha Hernandez Tobon

It was a proper cat-fight when Littleton took on Jefferson Academy on Saturday. The Littleton Lions took a 43-28 bruising from the Jefferson Academy Jaguars. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Littleton's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Samantha Hernandez Tobon, who posted ten points and eight boards, and Emma Bird, who had four points along with 12 rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Hernandez Tobon has posted since back in February of 2024.

It was another big night for Elsa Nygren, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards for Jefferson Academy. With that strong performance, Nygren is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Rylin Chichirico, who scored seven points and seven steals.

Littleton's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Jefferson Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Littleton will welcome Golden at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Golden's defense has only allowed 25.9 points per game this season, so Littleton's offense will have their work cut out for them. Jefferson Academy has already played their next matchup (against Eagle Ridge Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
