Baseball Game Preview: Somerset Tech Jaguars vs. Dunellen Destroyers

For the second straight game, Somerset Tech will face off against Dunellen. The Jaguars will take on the Destroyers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Somerset Tech is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight games dating back to last season on Saturday. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dunellen. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Jaguars, who fell 8-6 when the teams last met back in May of 2025.

For Dunellen's part, Cole Mayer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts Mayer has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kristhan Lopez was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Cesar Fermin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Dunellen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Somerset Tech only managed seven.

Dunellen's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Somerset Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
