Softball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Los Altos

Los Altos lost to Woodside back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Los Altos Eagles walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Woodside Wildcats. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Kaylyn Cox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Los Altos saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoe Aguilar, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Aguilar has posted since back in March of 2024. Makayla Mase was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Los Altos pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing nine hits in those games compared to only four in the others. As for Woodside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Los Altos has already played their next game, a 14-3 loss against San Mateo on the 11th. As for Woodside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-0 victory against Mercy on the 7th.
