Football Game Preview: O'Neill Eagles vs. Mount Michael Benedictine Knights

Two dominant backs in Braxen Eichelberger and Jedd Ramold are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The O'Neill Eagles will square off against the Mount Michael Benedictine Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Friday, O'Neill came up short against Lakeview and fell 29-19. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, O'Neill got top-tier performance from Turner Heiss, who threw for 218 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 33 yards and one touchdown. Heiss didn't just play on offense: he also made 12 total tackles and defended one pass.

Meanwhile, Mount Michael Benedictine entered their tilt with Logan View/Scribner-Snyder on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 31-7. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 24 points or more this season.

O'Neill better keep an eye on Brady Quinlivan. He was instrumental in Mount Michael Benedictine's win, picking up 64 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 72 yards. Quinlivan was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 54 yards.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Mount Michael Benedictine, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Quinlivan, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Mount Michael Benedictine's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for O'Neill, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. O'Neill has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 288 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mount Michael Benedictine struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 236.1 rushing yards.
