Preview: Mill Creek Hawks vs. White Oak Vikings
The Mill Creek Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the White Oak Vikings at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Mill Creek slipped by Seneca 55-54. The win made it back-to-back wins for Mill Creek.
White Oak has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 22 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Wake Forest on Saturday as White Oak made off with a 72-50 win. Given White Oak's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Wake Forest is ranked 611th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
White Oak can attribute much of their success to Curtis Jackson, who scored 14 points along with six assists and five rebounds, and Derrick Benbow jr, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Jackson also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaemon Noel, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Mill Creek is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for White Oak, their victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1.
