Basketball Recap: Chaparral Comes Up Short

Chaparral suffered their closest loss since January 5th on Monday. They fell just short of the Moreno Valley Vikings by a score of 47-44. The matchup marked the Pumas' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Moreno Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alijah Maloid, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 10 points. Zyetice Hayes was another key player, putting up ten points.

Chaparral has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Moreno Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chaparral will take on Lakeside in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at. As for Moreno Valley, they will face off against Arroyo Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Moreno Valley is facing Arroyo Valley at the right time seeing as Arroyo Valley is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
