Basketball Recap: Chambers Continues Home Dominance on Friday

If Hough wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Chambers, they should've done a better job of containing Markus Kerr. The Chambers Cougars walked away with a 64-52 victory over the Hough Huskies on Friday thanks in part to Kerr, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. His evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Malik McCotter was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six assists and four steals. Those six assists gave him a new career-high.

When it comes to explaining why Hough lost, don't look at Judah Freeman. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 20 on his way to 21 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Otto, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

Chambers pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Hough, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Chambers didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 80-60 loss against Lancaster on the 21st. As for Hough, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on West Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Hough is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.1 points per game this season.
