Basketball Recap: Jeremy Rosenbaum's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mcmichael over Walkertown

McMichael lost against Walkertown back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The McMichael Phoenix came up short against the Walkertown Wolfpack, falling 78-54. While losing is never fun, the Phoenix can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 497th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 188th).

Several Phoenix players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeremy Rosenbaum, who posted 14 points. Brayden Dalton was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Walkertown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaden McCandies led the charge by shooting 5-for-8 from downtown and dropping a double-double with 25 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave McCandies a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Camereon Cartlidge, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 16 boards.

This is the second loss in a row for McMichael and nudges their season record down to 5-16. As for Walkertown, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season.

McMichael didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 86-35 defeat against Reidsville on the 7th. As for Walkertown, they have also already played their next contest, a 73-60 victory against Morehead on the 7th.
